Arboretums and outstanding gardens, both great and small, offer visitors not only a unique sensory experience but an emotional one as well.
The past creators and contemporary caretakers of Landis Arboretum, the subject of the pastels shown in this collection, have given me the opportunity to observe and interpret the character of an evolving and special outdoor public space. A space created with love, knowledge and care which offers itself to the appreciative visitor for free.

Top image: The Old Station House, Mohawk River
The Mohawk-Hudson Bike Trail runs through Lions Park which overlooks a lovely stretch of the Mohawk River in upstate New York. The Niskayuna Railroad Station, now on the National Register of Historic Places, is at the center of this tranquil setting where Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets and Great Blue Herons can be seen from the shore.
